TELUS dealers continue to find innovative and impactful ways of giving back to their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dealers have been quick to respond to the critical needs their communities are facing stemming from a lack of connectivity as well as the mental health challenges of self-isolation.
We’re proud to share a few more examples of how our Dealers are helping their communities get access to technology, ensuring they stay in touch with their family and friends.
Smartcell is keeping their community connected through partnerships with Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre & the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health
Smartcell recently donated 10 phones to Centre de santé communautaire Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre. The centre is running an outreach program to provide phone access to isolated, low income, vulnerable people during COVID-19.
The people participating in this program do not have communication options available to them including phone, internet or access to services for mental health, housing, food and emergency services. The program aims to give them ways to connect in order to address their basic needs as well as ways to connect with others.
In addition, Smartcell provided 16 phones to the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health.
With mental health programs and services now cancelled or limited, this is undoubtedly a difficult time for inpatients who are separated from their loved ones.
With these phones, clients can receive their much-need mental health services and support, and stay virtually connected to their loved ones.
Thanks once again to our Dealer teams for your leadership and prioritization of giving back to your communities during this unprecedented time.
